But, don't let the sugary name fool you, while the petite beauty possesses a warm and inviting presence, it's the inner toughness conveyed throughout her music that makes her more than just a sweet face. From singing powerful ballads with the platinum-selling group Xscape to penning Grammy Award Winning female empowerment anthems for the likes of: Alicia Keys, Pink, Faith Evans, TLC, and Destiny's Child to name a few, Kandi has proven her tenacity in the music business. Kandi first exploded onto the R&B/Pop scene as the youngest member of the group Xscape. The group achieved substantial success that earned them three platinum albums, with hits such as: “Just Kickin It” “Understanding” and “My Little Secret.

In 1999, Xscape disbanded giving Kandi free range to explore her solo endeavors. The singer/songwriter released Hey Kandi a Billboard Top 100 Solo Album. Within the same year, Kandi made music history becoming the first female to ever receive the prestigious ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Songwriting Award, after having created a string of hits for multi-platinum and Grammy winning artists from N'SYNC to Boyz II Men.

The debut of her new album through Upfront Records under the guidance of StarMaker, Devyne Stephens, marks an exciting new chapter in Kandi's career. Her talent as a performer and writer has continued to grow and is evident in her lead single “I Need”, featuring 8 Ball and MJG, produced by Rodney “ Don Vito” Richard.
